Group Lessons

At the Buffalo Academy of Irish Music, our group lessons offer a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in the rich tradition of Irish music. We focus on teaching individual Irish techniques, rhythms, and ornamentations through tunes to bring the music to life. These lessons are not just about learning; they are also a fantastic way to connect with fellow music enthusiasts. By participating in our group setting, you’ll foster friendships and create a sense community among like-minded individuals. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced musician, our lessons cater to all skill levels. Join us at BAIM and experience the joy of Irish music together!

What do I need to know?

  1. Courses are in 10-week long quarters. See our quarter calendar for details.​

  2. Group lessons are held once a week for one hour

  3. Group lessons per quarter cost $20 per lesson paid in full 10 weeks prior to first lesson. Look at our Billing Policy for details

  4. Most tunes are taught in the traditional way, by ear, depending on the level of the course. Sheet music of the tunes can be provided to students for individual practice.

  5. Student's should bring their own instruments (some instruments can be rented from us)

  6. Students should bring some sort of recording device and a notebook for notes

  • Basic Fiddle - For people who are new to the instrument. We learn the basics of holding and playing the 3 most basic scales of Irish Music D, G, and A
