The Objective of the Buffalo Academy of Irish Music is to offer the community an enriching and educational way to learn Traditional Irish Music. In order to obtain the best results, it is imperative that attendance at all lessons be prompt and consistent:
-
Classes will begin promptly on time to accommodate students who are on time. The class will not wait for all students to show up before starting
-
On the occasion of an emergency that an instructor must miss a scheduled class, the instructor is required to be in communication with the students and make up that lesson, or provide a substitute
-
If it is known ahead of time that the teacher won't be able to make the class, a substitute will be provided
-
Classes missed by the Student will not be made up and will not be credited. Instructors are not required to make up a missed class by a student.
-
-
The Calendar for the 2025-2026 contains the dates of all studio closures, ensemble meet-ups, performances, and special teaching events:
-
On the occasion of an emergency that an instructor must miss a scheduled class, the instructor is required to be in communication with the students and make up that lesson, or they will get a substitute to fill in for them at the class
-
If Buffalo Public Schools are canceled do to inclement weather, then group lessons that day will also be canceled. The group lessons that are canceled will then be coordinated to either another date, or the make-up lesson week. Private lessons will be converted to online as to avoid the loss of the scheduled lesson.
-
-
The Buffalo Academy of Irish Music will follow the guidelines of the CDC when it comes to illnesses:
-
Students who have a fever (Anything above 99 degrees Fahrenheit) are not permitted to come into group or private lessons.
-
If a teacher notices a sick student they will be asked to leave to protect the other students from illness.
-
Group lessons will not be credited for sickness
-
Should a student be sick, the instructor will voice record or video record the lesson (teachers preference), and a copy will be emailed to the student so they do not miss out on the lesson.
-
If a student is sick for Private lessons, the lesson will be online if the student is well enough. A teacher is not responsible to make up the lesson
-
In the event that in-person instruction is not permitted by the CDC, Department of Health, and local school district, students will meet with their instructor online at their regularly scheduled lesson time. Teachers will discuss which online method will be used for group lessons, and be in touch with the student if Private lessons.
